Recently I have been asked by so many people the same question “Should I move to Vietnam?”. Well, my answer is “yes, you should ”
but this answer is not really for everybody. Keep reading and you will understand what I mean by that.

As a westerner, living in Vietnam is not like you have red on the Internet.
People don’t usually tell you the truth, or at least they don’t tell you the whole truth.
So, my answer is divided into two parts: people who should move to Vietnam and people who should not move to Vietnam.

You should move to Vietnam if:

• You have one year gap and want to try something really different
• You love very hot climate (I DO like summer, but it has been summer for me for 12 years; I don’t like it anymore)
• You don’t mind eating food that looks great but tastes totally different than you could ever imagine
• You are very sociable and you like beer (be aware that Vietnam is a very social society)
• You can ride a scooter or at least you are eager to try
  (be aware that riding a scooter in Vietnam is totally different than riding a scooter in your own country)
• You don’t plan to stay in Vietnam more than a year, maximum two
• You don’t have any commitments back home and want to try, work, and visit something new

If you find yourself in at least 3 of the above statements then I think you should move to Vietnam.

You should not move to Vietnam if:

• You want to make carrier in Vietnam, that is not really possible unless your company send you to Vietnam
• You think the one or two years of teaching English would improve your resume, it wouldn’t
• You want to settled down and retire in Vietnam; that would be very hard to achieve
• You think being an English teacher is a noble job, you are wrong, it used to be, now English Teacher in Vietnam means clown,
  English Centers are not schools but businesses, and your students are not students but clients who must be entertained by
  the foreign monkey-clown
• If you can’t handle noise then don’t come (be prepared, traffic wakes you up at 6 am, everywhere you go is crowded,
  and people speak very loudly)
• Living with cockroaches is the norm here, cockroaches are everywhere, you don’t like them then don’t come

If you find yourself in at least 3 of the above statements then I think you shouldn’t move to Vietnam.

There are a lot of things about Vietnamese culture which won’t agree with western people and would be impossible to
cover all of them in this video.

I am not very sure if this video answers the question “should I move to Vietnam” and anyway I think you already know the answer,
but I strongly believe that if you take it as an adventure then you will have a great time in Vietnam,
if not great then at least interesting.
